When looking at playlist data you will see a breakdown of the position that songs shared via SubmitHub typically spend the majority of their time while in a playlist.
In the below example 62% of the songs shared via SubmitHub spend the majority of their time in positions 11-40. This means that if your song gets added to this playlist, there's a good chance it will end up in that position of the playlist, specifically.
How to use this information
The idea here is to set expectations about what position a song will be added (or spend the majority of its time) in a playlist. In most cases, somewhere in the middle (11-40) is a healthy position to be. Songs in positions 41+ tend to get far fewer listeners.
Methodology
Since mid-February of 2024 we've been keeping track of the position of each song in a playlist. Our code calculates the average position of that song in the playlist over the duration of its time in that playlist. So, it may start out at the top, but if it moves down the list after 3 days and then sits in the middle for a few months, the numbers will reflect that songs typically live in the "middle" of a playlist (11-40).
