How do I respond to a submission?

When a submission lands in your inbox, you've got 4 response buttons. The set you see depends on how the song was submitted (standard vs. premium) and your role on the outlet.

The 4 buttons

• I like this song: opens the share flow (covered below).
• Not for me: decline with feedback. For influencers, this is where you rate the elements. The submitter gets emailed but isn't in a reply chain with you.
• Save for later: moves the submission to your "MAYBE" tab so you can come back to it.
• Instant Decline or Refund: same slot, different behavior depending on context (see below).

Instant Decline vs. Refund

The fourth button flips between two behaviors:

• Instant Decline: you'll see this on standard (free) submissions, expired premium submissions, and always if you're a team member rather than the outlet owner. Declines without feedback. The submitter still gets notified.
• Refund: appears on premium submissions when you're the outlet owner. Cancels the review and returns the submitter's credits, so neither side has to go through a decline. Use it when you can't give a fair listen (wrong genre, personal conflict, out of office). You'll be asked for an optional reason.

What happens after "I like this song"

Hitting approve opens a share sheet. The fields vary by outlet type.

For playlisters (about 85% of curators), the share sheet covers:

• Where to share it: which of your playlists will get the song. If playlist syncing is on, all synced platforms (YouTube, SoundCloud, Apple, Deezer, Tidal) come along automatically.
• Position in the playlist: top, bottom, or any specific spot
• When to share: immediately, scheduled for a specific date, or "when ready" (waits for the Spotify link to become available)
• How long to keep it: duration from 3 days to 1 year, or "undecided." When the time's up, we auto-remove the song.
• Shout-out vs. proper share: you can also share as a shout-out (a social post) rather than a playlist add. See the "What is a shout-out?" article.

For bloggers, YouTubers, radio shows, and other non-playlister outlets: the share sheet has fields tailored to your outlet (e.g. which blog post, which YouTube video). YouTube channels and radio shows also get a future-date option for premieres and air times. For bloggers and other non-playlister outlets, the share is recorded and credited the moment you mark it shared (admins can re-enable future-date scheduling for individual blogs on request).

Other actions

The dropdown at the top of each submission opens a menu with additional options:

• Forward: send the song to a friend
• Report an issue: flag a broken stream, abuse of the system, etc.
• Wrong genre: flag the submission as tagged incorrectly
• AI Song Checker: quickly check whether the submitted track looks AI-generated (opens our detector inline, using the same engine as submithub.com/ai-song-checker)
• Message user: open a private chat with the submitter
• Add note: leave a private note on the submission for yourself
• Refund: available here too on premium submissions (same behavior as the main Refund button)
