Testing your TikTok events
Once you've added your TikTok Pixel ID and Events API token to your Link, it's worth confirming events are actually arriving before you put budget behind an ad. TikTok gives you a test code for exactly this, and the Link editor has a Test button that uses it.
How to test
- In TikTok Events Manager, open your web data source and go to the Test Events tab.
- Add your Link's landing page's link into the box and open it from there.
- Take action on the page in the website = click on a button of your Link landing page.
- A green light should be on now on the lower part of the Test Events page, along with the word Connected.
To test it even further
- Copy the test event code shown there on the right side (something like TEST12345).
- In your SubmitHub Link editor, in the TikTok pixel section, paste it into the Test event code field.
- Hit Test.
- Switch back to TikTok's Test Events tab. Your event should show up there within a few seconds.
If nothing shows up
- Double-check the Pixel ID and Events API token on your Link match the data source you're testing.
- Make sure you're looking at the Test Events tab for the same data source.
- If you only just added the details, give it a minute and try again.
Once you've confirmed events are landing, you can clear the test code; it's only used for testing and isn't needed for live tracking. Still stuck? Reach out to us and we'll take a look.
