How do I request an update from an artist?

Have you got an approved submission where the artist has gone quiet (for example, they haven't got the song live on Spotify yet)? There's a "Request Update/Refund" button on any approved submission. That's the lever.

Step 1: chat them

Open the approval and use chat to ask for an update. Most artists respond. If they do and the song is about to be live, just wait for the Spotify link and the share will happen automatically.

Step 2: request an update (72-hour clock)

If chat isn't getting a response, hit the "Request Update/Refund" button and choose "Request an update." That sends the artist an email and a chat notification, and starts a 72-hour clock. They have to respond within 72 hours or the system automatically refunds the submission. Either way, you're off the hook.

(You might see this called "escalating" or "creating a dispute" in older docs. Same thing.)

Step 3: refund them yourself (optional)

If it's been more than 72 hours since the approval and you've had enough, hit "Request Update/Refund" again and pick the refund option. You unilaterally cancel, the artist gets their credits back, and the submission closes out. No earnings for you on that one.

Why this exists

Approving a song and waiting indefinitely on a no-show release isn't fair to you. The request-update flow is how you push back and put the ball in their court, without having to choose between waiting forever or writing off the credits yourself.
