Editing the genres on your package

We pick the genres for your package based on our own interpretation of the song, but you can override them any time. The genre selection sits on your package page.

Where to find it

Open your package page. You'll see the current genres listed; click into them to swap them out. You can pick up to 3.

What happens when you change them

Depends on where the package is in its run:

  • Not launched yet: nothing visible happens. We use the new genres when the package fires off its first round.
  • Active: we cancel the in-flight curator campaigns and queue a fresh batch using the updated genres. Submissions that have already been delivered to a curator are spent; the rest gets re-aimed.
  • Refining: if your package was waiting on Hot or Not voting after a low round-1 approval rate, we skip the rest of the voting and resume straight into round 2 with your chosen genres. See the "What 'refining' means" article for context on that status.

Why we let you override

Our interpretation isn't always right, especially on tracks that sit between two genres. If the curators we've been sending your song to feel like a poor fit, that's usually a genre mismatch. Editing the genres yourself is the fastest way to redirect.
