A free tool that listens to your song and tells you what genres it fits. Useful for figuring out how to tag a release, spotting where your sound actually sits, or sanity-checking what you think it is.
How to use it
Head to submithub.com/whats-my-genre and give it one of the following:
You don't need an account. Guests get 2 free runs per IP per hour; sign in to keep going past that. Song needs to be at least 30 seconds long, and results get more accurate when there's a minute or more to work with.
What the results look like
We return a ranked list of genres, each with a confidence percentage. The percentage reflects how confident the model is that a given genre is present in the track, not how dominant it is, so you'll often see multiple genres scoring well for a single song.
How accurate is it?
Good, not perfect. Distinctive, tightly-defined genres (think Solo Piano, Phonk, Amapiano) get identified reliably. Overlapping indie / alternative / electronic labels are harder because the genres themselves blur into each other.
A few things that affect accuracy:
If a result looks off, hit the thumbs-down button. That feedback goes directly into training the next version.

We wrote a blog post about how the genre detector was built, which genres it handles well, and which still need work. Read it here.
