If a curator's flagged your song as "not playing" or you got a "broken stream" notification, the fix is to verify the playback yourself the way they experience it: inside SubmitHub, not via an external link.
How to check
If it works there, it'll work for curators. If it doesn't, that's the problem to fix, even if your Spotify or SoundCloud link plays fine when you click it in another tab. Curators stream through our embedded player, so what matters is whether it works there.
Why we don't just stream from Spotify (or your other links)
Most major DSPs don't let third-party platforms stream their audio directly. Spotify only exposes a 30-second API preview, and even that's been cut for many tracks. Apple Music, Pandora, and others are the same story. So when you submit a song with a Spotify link, we don't pull playback from Spotify itself. Instead, we use either an audio file you uploaded or one we fetched on your behalf when the song was added.
Practical implication: if all your Spotify-linked songs suddenly stop playing on SubmitHub, the Spotify links themselves are usually fine. The stored audio file behind them is what's broken. Re-upload an MP3 to the affected songs and they'll play again.
Common reasons it might not play
If curators already skipped because of a broken stream
Already sent the song out before realizing it was broken? Here's what happens to those submissions:
Standard (free) submissions don't have the auto-refund safety net, so if you've burned them on a broken stream, those credits are gone.
