How do I make my playlist public?

If you're running Meta ads to a Spotify playlist (rather than a track, album, or artist profile), the playlist needs to be public, or the streams your ad drives won't count properly.

Why it matters

If your playlist isn't showing under "Public playlists" on your Spotify profile, the streams it generates won't appear in Spotify for Artists. You'd be paying for ad traffic without getting credit for the listens, which defeats the point.

How to make a playlist public

Two steps, both on Spotify's side:

  1. Open the playlist in Spotify, tap the three dots, and select "Add to profile."
  2. Go to your Spotify Social settings and enable "People can see the playlists you've added to your profile."

Once both are done, the playlist shows under "Public playlists" on your profile and the streams start counting.

We'll flag it for you

When you run ads to a playlist Link, we do a quick scan of your public playlists. If we can't find the one you're advertising, we'll email you a heads-up (with a screenshot) so you can fix it. It's possible we miss it, so the email asks you to double-check rather than assuming it's wrong.
