How does the popular chart "Points" system work?
Updated May 5, 2024: The formula for "Points" in the popular chart = total approvals + RGB bonus + (approval ratio * multiplier).
- The "RGB bonus" stands for Really Good Bloggers. These are bloggers who we've identified as consistently putting effort into writing original blog posts about music. It's a nod to the old-school way of curation :)
- The approval ratio is the # of approved songs divided by the total # of responses you've received
- The multiplier is the # of responses you've received, but it can never be higher than 15
A few caveats:
- Not all approvals get counted toward your "Points" total. Those from curators who have a high approval rate (above 30%) are excluded, as are influencer approvals
- Points are recalculated every time you get a new approval. Sometimes this means that your ratio will change in between calculations.
- For example, if you got your first approval after 3 responses, your ratio would be 1/3 at that time of calculation (33%)
- If your second approval comes a week later after 5 more responses, your new ratio will be calculated as 2/8 (25%)
- So, even though you have a second approval in this scenario, your total score might actually go down because the ratio has changed
