Scheduled removal of tracks

Set a removal date when you approve a song, and SubmitHub will take the song off your playlist automatically when the time's up. Great for keeping playlists fresh without having to remember what to prune and when.

How to schedule a removal

When approving a song for a Spotify playlist, one of the fields is "how long to keep it." Options range from 3 days up to 1 year, plus an "undecided / no time limit" option if you want to leave it open.

Once you pick a duration, we calculate a removal date and queue the song for removal on that date.

Editing or canceling a scheduled removal

You can manage pending removals from two places:

  • The playlist's own page on SubmitHub: each song row shows its scheduled removal and lets you edit or cancel it inline
  • The Removals tab on your curator profile: a single view of every pending removal across all your playlists

From either place you can:

  • Change the date: click the calendar icon to push it later or pull it in
  • Cancel the removal: the song stays on the playlist indefinitely
  • See past removals: toggle "Show removed" on the Removals tab to view the history of songs that have already come off

What happens when the timer fires

We check for pending removals every 5 minutes. When a song's date is up, we remove it from Spotify and then mirror the removal to any synced platforms (YouTube, SoundCloud, Apple, Deezer, Tidal).

Locked tracks are never removed

If a song has been locked to a position (see the Locking track positions article), scheduled removals won't fire on it. Unlock the song first if you want it to come off.

If something removes the song early

If the song disappears from your playlist before the scheduled date (e.g. you or someone on your team removed it manually), we notice and email you. Helps us keep track of playlists where songs are getting pulled faster than they should be.

If a removal fails

Occasionally a removal can fail: expired auth tokens, Spotify rate limits, or the song having already been deleted from the catalog. We retry a few times and refresh your token in between. If it still fails, you'll get an email letting you know, with a link back to the playlist.
