What should my feedback say?

Tips:

Typically it's best to accomplish two things with your feedback:

  1. Say something specific about the song to demonstrate that you listened to *their* song and aren't just writing generic responses
  2. Let them know what you think about their song: this could be weak points, strong points, areas for improvement, etc. Try to be constructive!

One of the easiest approaches to writing feedback is called the "compliment sandwich"

  • You start out by saying something nice, then point out an area you struggled to enjoy, and finish on a positive note
  • The trick here is to actually say something specific about the song

Examples:

  • "I really enjoyed the guitar solo, but struggled a bit with the vocals on the chorus. Also liked the pumpkin in the album art."
  • "This song is really upbeat - I like that. But I might have enjoyed a bit more variation in the melody. Those vocals deserve an amazing hook!"
