[Changelog] December 15, 2022
This is likely my last update of the year, as things are winding down for the holiday season :)
- You can now "preview" any Spotify playlist
- It plays 30 second samples, as provided by Spotify's API
- An important part of choosing who to submit to is "researching their sound" - and this should make that process a whole lot easier
- I've tweaked the genre match score. Historically this score has been about "how likely they are to approve a specific genre?". Going forward, I'm pushing it in the direction of "how focused are they on this genre?". Factors now include:
- How often they share it relative to their other genres
- How often they share it relative to their peers
- [New] If Spotify is main method of sharing, slight adjustment based on the focus of the playlists they typically share that genre to (more info here)
- [New] Slight adjustment if they have a very high approval rate across all genres (eg, 50%+)
- Automatically populate artist profiles
- When a user uploads a new song, I scrape the internet for information about the artist
- If they haven't yet edited their artist profile, I use this information to fill it in
- The user gets an email notification letting them know about the changes
- Added emoji function for curator feedback
- Rolled out a number of speed improvements for the curators feed
There's been a ton of stuff going on behind the scenes on our ticketing side and general admin functionality. But I can't share most of that stuff publicly :)
Top priorities going into 2023 are: 1) SubmitHub Marketplace; 2) playlist matching based on similar artists (eg, show me playlists that feature artists like Bonobo).
