Managing your playlists

A few years back I added the ability for curators to connect their Spotify accounts so that they could add songs directly to their playlists without having to leave SubmitHub. This "toolset" included the option to choose the position of the song as well as set a timer for the song to be removed automatically (eg, "remove this song in 30 days").

Today's update takes this toolset from v1 straight to v3-super-duper-awesome. Here's a summary of the changes:

When sharing a song

• Clicking "Mark as Shared" or "Add to Spotify" leads directly to a dedicated sharing prompt, rather than opening in a popup as previously
• The selection prompt now allows you to specify position and removal date on a per-playlist basis
• You can easily view the existing tracks in the playlist (and positions) by clicking the "Manage" button

Managing specific playlists

• You can now view a complete list of the songs in your playlist
• This data includes audio analytics
• These can be re-ordered
• You can also remove a song from your playlist
• Any song can now have a "scheduled removal date" - regardless of whether it was approved via SubmitHub or not
• You can play through the playlist using the 30 second samples provided by Spotify's API

I'm rolling this out in two stages.

Once I've confirmed the management process is running smoothly, the next step is the ability to immediately share a song while approving it

• This is much more efficient than having it go to your "Approved tab → Mark as shared"
• If the song is not yet released, you'll be able to automatically share on release date
• No more waiting around to see what's ready to share
• Added benefit of artists all getting shared promptly on release date
• While it's waiting to be shared, you'll be able to see it in your SubmitHub playlist, with the ability to rearrange it ahead of time
