[Changelog] March 20, 2026

I've been coding hard this week. School holidays start at the end of next week and I'm going away with the family, so now's the perfect time to burn myself out 🔥 😆

Obviously the big story of last week was SubmitHub Packages, so let's start with that.

Packages

This is the biggest new feature I've rolled out in at least a year (previously Meta Ads?). So far, things are going fairly smoothly.

Some stats:

In the week since launching:

  • 600+ packages requested
  • Campaigns:
    • 2,750+ shares
    • Average approval rate: 25%
    • Mix: 77% playlist and 23% blog
  • Meta:
    • 190,000+ ad clicks
    • 38,000+ conversions (20% CTR)

Someone asked in one of the chatrooms what my "measure for success" is on these packages. The answer for those pushing playlists+Meta is an increase in Spotify popularity score. More on that below.

Product updates:

There's a ton of stuff going on behind the scenes, so I'll skip straight to the fun front-end stuff.

  • For starters, there's now a "results" tab (for all tracks) that shows your approvals, popularity score, and Meta stats (if available)
  • Going forward, I'm tracking popularity score for *any* track that's been pushed in the last 30 days (pulling fresh data every 3 days)
  • Packages gets its own tab
  • One issue I noticed with the option that lets you "create" a track upload from a Spotify link is that some people were creating duplicates of existing tracks
    • To solve this, I double check if an existing track with the same Spotify ID exists, and use that
    • Added bonus: when submitting a song, I previously only checked that specific upload to avoid duplicates. My code has been modified to double-check any duplicate uploads with the same Spotify ID (even if from another account) so that the same song isn't sent to a curator twice
  • Users can easily top-up credits within a package
  • I got rid of the "radio" option - we were running out of radio stations to send to, as it's not something we've been actively signing up on SubmitHub
  • Fixed the tracker percents - they were showing # of credits currently in rotation for submissions, whereas it should be % responded/complete

Miscellaneous

  • Link history charts now have select-to-zoom
  • Fixed a bug around locked track positions for songs in a position > 100
  • Made the homepage a little more personable by putting our beautiful faces on it
  • Optimized up a bunch of slow database operations
  • I responded to 289 emails, 79 tickets and 98 chats 😮

What's next?

A few things:

  • Streamline the song upload process
  • Give users more control over ad creatives (ability to see what's being used / deactivate / replace)
  • Custom packages (choose your own mix)

So yeah, on that note, maybe I should sign off for the day! Gonna go install an automatic chicken coop door 🐓
