When SubmitHub started, artists only had 5 genres to choose from. Today there are more than 200.
And yet even with that many options, a genre only goes so far when it comes to describing a song.
The no-brainer solution, of course, is to add a secondary "mood" layer. I've had it on my wishlist for a year now, and finally got around to rolling it out to the general masses :)
After you've uploaded your song and you've initiated the submission process, you'll find a selection that looks like the below screenshot (on the same step as your genre selection).
Once you've chosen your moods and moved to the selection page, you'll see overlaps listed alongside each curator as in the screenshot below.
I debated automatically filtering out curators who didn't have a complete match, but for now I've opted to simply show notes. In the future, I may automatically hide curators who have zero overlapping moods, but I need to collect some more data first. General sentiment among curators is that automatically hiding people based on mood overlaps is a bad idea given that the definition of these moods is open to broad interpretation.
