Stats around feedback

Back in May we made some big changes around our feedback rating system.

Since then, artists have left ~70,000 ratings of the feedback they've received.

Here are some observations:

Submission preference:

• Specific feedback: 66% of submissions
• Gentle feedback: 24% of submissions
• No feedback at all: 10% of submissions

Satisfaction:

• 86.8% are happy with their specific feedback
• 86.9% are happy with their gentle specific
• Yes, it's that close. I'm surprised, but apparently humans are consistent 🧐 

Tags:

• 75% of ratings include some sort of descriptive tag
• The most-common tags are:
• Honest - 48.5%
• Helpful - 31.1%
• Kind - 29.8%
• Reasonable - 28.0%
• Thoughtful - 14.0%
• Technical - 9.5%
• Vague - 6.8%
• Confusing - 6.5%
• Rude - 1.6%
• Bad grammar - 1.0%

Curators:

• The average ratio of satisfied vs. non-satisfied ratings for curators with at least 20 ratings (sample size = ~700 curators):
• Top quarter: 95% satisfied
• Average: 90% satisfied
• Bottom quarter: 82% satisfied
• There seems to be a correlation between satisfaction rates and number of words written:
• Top quarter: ~40 words
• Average: ~30 words
• Bottom quarter: ~20 words
• Surprisingly, these ratios are almost identical when looking at gentle feedback (sample size = ~230 curators)
• Two takeaways here:
• Artists are very generous when rating
• If 1 in 5 of a curator's ratings are not satisfactory, they're actually worse off than 90% of their peers
• More words = higher ratios of satisfaction
