How do I increase my engagement score?
In general, the engagement score is skewed towards where you share songs so it’s best to share to your highest-performing platforms or playlists and use your subsidiary platforms to push and promote them.
If you’re looking to move to a higher price tier or stay at the price you’re currently listed at, here’s what you can do to ensure your engagement score meets the requirements:
Spotify Playlisters
Three fairly quick things to change:
- Keep songs in your playlist longer. The average we show is "listeners per day" X "days in playlist," so if you get 10 listeners a day per song and keep songs in for 30 days, we'll show an average 300
- Share them at a higher position. Songs in the top 10 get the most listeners. If songs you're sharing are consistently getting buried in the bottom half of your playlist, they're not going to be getting that many listeners, and this is something we factor into our calculations
- Sync your playlists. We'll give your engagement score a boost if you use our sync feature to share your song to 3+ playlists (eg, Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud)
Some more tips:
- Come up with a promotion plan to increase your listeners. For example, that could be via running Meta ads or regularly posting promotional content on TikTok. NB: In order to improve the chances that new followers become repeat listeners, ensure that your promotional messaging matches the playlist’s curation
- Use SubmitHub Links as the landing page for your playlist. Do this in your ads and social media links. That way, we SubmitHub can easily verify your growth and promote that fact to our users
- Lower the number of songs in your playlist so that each song has the best chance of receiving the most listeners possible
- Revisit your curation and make sure the vibe / mood / genre of the playlist is consistent, with a clear title and bio that is attractive to listeners
- Consider adding music from a few well-known acts to your playlist. Make sure to also have music from smaller artists – that way our system is more likely to readily have listener statistics on hand
- Avoid having genres selected that might only be relevant for your smaller playlists
- Focus your efforts on fewer, better-maintained playlists
- If you’ve got a small playlist you often share to, invest a little more budget into it
