2023 Wishlist

For the third year in a row, I'm publicly sharing some of the major features I plan to work on for SubmitHub. Feel free to check out the 2022 and 2021 editions :)

Submissions

• Improve feedback indicators (the "what kind of feedback do you want?" part)
• Ability for artists to "highlight" a portion of their song that they recommend listening to
• Revamp influencer submissions
• "What's my genre?" option, where you can ask experts or AI for quick recommendations about what genre to choose
• Attach lyrics to songs
• Ability to match with playlists based on the artists they feature (eg, "Show me playlists that feature Bonobo")

Marketplace

This is a major new feature. It's like Fiverr, but with better quality control. The idea is that you can hire an expert to complete small tasks related to the release and promotion of new music (eg, album artwork, Facebook ad setup, etc). Applications opened late 2022 for curators, and will open earlier this year for the general public.

• Process of making a request and approving said request
• Communicating about requirements

Last year's wishlist ended up ~50% done. So I've moved some of the remaining stuff into a new section that'll get updated occasionally :)

Artists

• The ability to follow artists
• Get notified if an artist you follow releases a new song

Chat

• Replace #publicists and #labels chat with an #industry chat
• Reply directly to a chat in a chatroom (nested chats)
• Search chats
• Update #listentothis so that people can actually embed a SubmitHub player that allows us to verify it was actually listened to
• Easily link to artist's profile from chat (useful for artists trying to network)
