2024 Wishlist

I got through the bulk of 2023's wishlist, though there are still a few items left. I'm including those below, as well as adding a few new ones!

If you've got feature requests or ideas, please use the comments below!

Cross-platform sharing

This is the main project for 2024, and the one I'm most excited about. Supporting seamless sharing across multiple streaming platforms will benefit artists and curators alike.

  • Connect and sync Apple playlists
  • Connect and sync Deezer playlists
  • Connect and sync YouTube playlists
  • Connect and sync SoundCloud playlists
  • Auto-share to the above platforms, the same way curators can currently share directly to Spotify from SubmitHub

This should be finished by the end of August. I'm still waiting for YouTube to "unlock" our API limits so that we can scale.

Translations

We've translated SubmitHub into 25 languages so far. About 25% of this was done manually, and the rest automatically with Google Translate.

As you can imagine, a lot of the Google Translate stuff is wrong, and needs to be fixed.

Submissions

  • Improve feedback indicators (the "what kind of feedback do you want?" part)
  • Potentially add a new "technical" feedback category that qualified curators can apply to join
  • Ability for artists to "highlight" a portion of their song that they recommend listening to

Chat

I didn't really get to these last year, but they're generally still good ideas:

  • Replace #publicists and #labels chat with a more #general chat
  • Replace #bloggers with #curators
  • Reply directly to a chat in a chatroom (nested chats)
  • Search chats
  • Update #listentothis so that people can actually embed a SubmitHub player that allows us to verify it was actually listened to
  • Easily link to artist's profile from chat (useful for artists trying to network)
  • Highlighted / sticky chats
  • Start reading chats from where you last left off
  • Polls / surveys

Hot or Not

  • Block artists you don't like
  • Filters for AI songs, moods, instrumentals, etc. -- basically all the filters curators already get
  • Integration ChatGPT summaries of feedback, as exists for submissions
