9 years of SubmitHub

On November 10th, SubmitHub turned 9 🎉 🥳 🍻 

Last year, I shared a number of interesting factoids. This year, I'll update those stats and add a few more!

What changed in the last year?

Here's a summary of the major changes:

  • Average approval rates increased from 26% to 30% 📈
  • We launched our Playlist Checker, which allows you to verify the quality of any playlist on Spotify
  • SubmitHub Links got a number of really valuable upgrades:
  • One-click page creation for artists, tracks, and playlists
  • Conversion tracking and deep links
  • Our Beta launch of SubmitHub Ads (last week!), which lets you launch a Meta ads campaign on Facebook and Instagram (this is my focus for the next few months)
  • What's my genre? uses AI to identify the most-prevalent genres in a song
  • Playlist Syncing means that curators can now auto-share songs across multiple platforms, increasing exposure for artists

Interesting statistics

Submissions

  • The first submission was sent on November 10th, 2015 at 9:37pm GMT
  • 5,163 submissions were sent in the first month
  • This was before there was any sort of "premium" credit involved - it was all a quick & free yes/no
  • Premium credits were introduced in ~February of 2016
  • 658,583 submissions were sent in the first year 😮
  • There have been 5,629,266 songs approved & shared since 2015
  • 47,470 of these were shared in the first year
  • More than 1 million shared songs in the last 12 months, or roughly 2,750 per day!

Curators

  • 1,352 new curators applied to join SubmitHub in the last year (about 3x more than the previous year)
  • 198 were approved (14.6%)
  • 187 Spotify playlisters / 978
  • 7 blogs / 251
  • 3 YouTube channels / 50
  • 1 other (Radio) / 363
  • Of the 368 curators who joined in the first year, 49 46 of them have responded to a submission within the last month

Users

  • In the first month, 1,798 user accounts were created
  • 75 61 57 of those are still active, having logged in within the last 30 days
  • By the end of the first year, there were 43,316 registered users
  • 1,049 878 773 of those users have logged in within the last 30 days
  • Today, there are ~1,085,000 registered accounts (+138,000 from last year) 🚀
  • Top 5 countries that users visit from (unchanged from last year):
  • United States 🇺🇸 (38.5%)
  • United Kingdom 🇬🇧 (9.0%)
  • Germany 🇩🇪 (5.8%)
  • Canada 🇨🇦 (4.6%)
  • Italy 🇮🇹 (3.0%)
  • In the last week, 21,708 unique users have visited the website 358,210 times, which is almost identical to what was reported last year
  • That works out to 17 visits per user per week, or ~2.5 visits per day
  • I'm pretty sure there are some folks visiting 50+ times a day 😆 

SubmitHub Links

  • In the last year, 42,917 Links have been created
  • 6,548 of those were viewed at least 100 times
  • There were a total of 37,714,422 views and 14,623,856 clicks
  • The most-active link had 1,536,708 views and 362,922 clicks
