8 years of SubmitHub

On November 10th, SubmitHub turned 8 🎉 🥳 🍻 

Last year, I shared a number of interesting factoids. This year, I'll update those stats and add a few more! But first...

What changed in the last year?

Here's a summary of the major changes:

• Average approval rates increased from 20% to 26% 📈
• The "similar artists" feature improved genre targeting 🎯
• Premium requirements changed
• Curators must listen for 60+ seconds and write 20+ words of feedback 🎧
• We relaunched our "budget" influencer submissions
• ChatGPT can create press quotes and summarize your feedback 📝
• Currently in beta: genre tagging using AI (more on that soon)
• Record Label submissions are no more 💨
• Hot or Not got a "verified reviewers" feature ✅
• We launched the SubmitHub Marketplace

Interesting statistics

Submissions

• The first submission was sent on November 10th, 2015 at 9:37pm GMT
• 5,163 submissions were sent in the first month
• This was before there was any sort of "premium" credit involved - it was all a quick & free yes/no
• Premium credits were introduced in ~February of 2016
• 658,583 submissions were sent in the first year 😮 (this one actually surprises me!)
• There have been 4,533,114 songs approved & shared since 2015
• 47,470 of these were shared in the first year
• That's more than 1 million shared songs in the last year, or roughly 2,750 per day!

Curators

• Applications approved:
• Curators: 3,035 out of 17,083 (17.7%)
• Influencers: 3,309 out of 14,372 (23%)
• Of the 368 curators who joined in the first year, 49 of them have responded to a submission within the last month
• 469 new curators joined SubmitHub in the last year
• 361 Spotify playlisters
• 43 blogs
• 26 YouTube channels
• 39 other (Streamer, social media, etc)

Influencers

• 111,000+ TikTok videos (2.3+ billion plays)
• 49,000+ Instagram Reels (1+ billion plays)
• 511 new influencers signed up
• 395 of them actually ended up sharing at least 1 song

Users

• In the first month, 1,798 user accounts were created
• 75 61 of those are still active, having logged in within the last 30 days
• By the end of the first year, there were 43,316 registered users
• 1,049 878 of those users have logged in within the last 30 days
• Today, there are ~946,000 registered accounts (+126,000 from last year) 🚀
• Top 5 countries that users visit from (with comparison to last year):
• United States 🇺🇸 (38.5%) - up 1.0%
• United Kingdom 🇬🇧 (9.0%) - down 0.6%
• Germany 🇩🇪 (5.8%) - up 0.2%
• Canada 🇨🇦 (4.6%) - up 0.1%
• Italy 🇮🇹 (3.0%) - down 0.1%
• In the last week, 20,233 unique users have visited the website 352,091 times, which is almost identical to what was reported last year
• That works out to 17 visits per user per week, or ~2.5 visits per day
• I'm pretty sure there are some folks visiting 50+ times a day 😆
