Design changes
I've rolled out quite a few new products in the last year, and fitting them all into the menu was becoming a challenge.
- Back in February I experimented with a collapse/expand approach, but it felt like things were hidden
- The new view lays everything out there:
The side menu was just the start. Other parts of the site navigation were getting too cramped. So, I kept going...
- Curator pages got a clean up, with a new "Playlists" tab combining all the various DSPs into one (previously each had their own tab)
- Hot or Not and Marketplace ditched the extra side menus in favor of a centralized top navigation
AI Products
- Dramatically sped up the inference of the AI song checker and What's My Genre
- When using a Spotify link, I attempt to find the corresponding YouTube video so that I can run the test on full audio (Spotify only gives a ~20 second audio sample, which causes false flags)
- Launched an API for the AI song checker
SubmitHub Ads
- On the Ads side we're now managing 1,000+ concurrent campaigns which ain't easy. I worked on a whole bunch of automated optimization approaches that identify struggling ads and turn them around
- Links can now import FeatureFM landing pages, with added logo support for a few more DSPs
- Active ads now show 3-day history within the dashboard for a quick glance
- During ad setup, users are prompted to choose their own videos - this helps us a lot in terms of getting the right aesthetic for creatives
Miscellaneous
- Dylan added a bunch of new genres
- Ability to export CSVs of your Hot or Not and Marketplace activity
- Hot or Not users can now report songs they suspect of being AI (this was causing a lot of issues)
- Changed the way Spotify listeners are shown (previously per month, now total listeners for average time in playlist)
- Made it into the popular chart? You get an email notification!
- And unlike certain competitors, you don't have to pay extra money to be eligible for the chart 😆
Up next? Hm, not 100% sure. Got a few things I want to look at before the year ends, but want to avoid burning out as well. So, probably a couple more weeks or optimizations and tweaks in the pipeline 🤖
